| The Czech Air Force Radio Club was founded in 1990 as
a club station of Signal Brigade of Anti Aircraft Defence Corp. The founder and first
operator was OK1FQQ, now OK1FQ. The permanent QTH is a small town north of Prague –
Klecany. From the very
beginning OK1KLE has been very active on the VHF band and also in the 160 metre range.
Among the first members were conscripts, who used their free time to prepare for and pass
OK – Class C tests. Among others these were OK1HQQ, OK2BQQ, OK3WQQ (the present OM3WQQ)
OK3TWC (OM2TWC) OK2PQP, OK2UQX, OK1VQX, OK1UQR, OK1UYZ and also: OK1DYJ, OK1XQQ, OK1XYJ,
OK1VVT and others. The first equipments was of course Boubin 80 and M160, later R2CW and
Kenwood TS 140.

At present
the station is experiencing a bout of lesser activity, but we are sure that OK1KLE will
“catch on” and that they will soon be on the air again. Together with OKDX Foundation
and OK1KLE we are preparing to build a shortwave station near Mladá Boleslav. The present
first operator, OK1DYJ, is depending on young people, not only from military circles, and
we believe that he and all other members of OK1KLE will succeed in getting the group back
to where it used to be – in the “ham” bands.
The “ham”
station CARC – OK5ACR wishes their sister club station all the best. |
